In Loving Memory of William Eugene Rigler

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Eugene Rigler, 77, a loving husband, devoted father, and respected member of the community. Bill peacefully left this world on February 1, 2024, in Havre de Grace, Maryland. He was born on July 17, 1946, in the town of Hanover, Pennsylvania, to his late parents Carlton H. Bill graduated from Havre de Grace Senior High School in 1964. While in High School, he became a very accomplished musician on the trumpet. He was the Band Commander his senior year, member of the Maryland All State Band from 1963-1964, and received the John Philip Souza Award, as well as various recognitions for his musical ability. Upon high school graduation Bill attended the University of Maryland and graduated in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in music education. Bill was a member of the Maryland Marching Band, touring band, and the Symphony band. Bill belonged to the musical fraternity Delta Sigma Phi. After graduation, he taught elementary school band and music in Cecil County but was needed at the family business. He was known for his sincerity, knowledge, and impeccable service. He was the proud family representative of Rigler Furniture, where he created a warm and inviting atmosphere for his customers over the years.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bill's true joy came from his loving family. He was married to his high school sweetheart and cherished wife, Sue K. Petrosino Rigler, for 55 years, blessing them with a lifetime of shared love, laughter, and extraordinary memories. Together, they built a strong foundation of support, understanding, and unwavering commitment.

In 1970, the couple was blessed with a son, William P. Rigler. Bill attended many sci-fi and Star Trek conventions with his son, and also like Bill, William became an avid reader in his adult life and has written seven published paperback books. His parents are very proud of William for his accomplishments while dealing with MS.

Bill was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, MD where he held the positions of: President Church Council, Vice President Church Council, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Senior Choir Member (Tenor), Bell Choir Member, organized church instrumental group, participated in the St. Paul Pit Band for musicals, presented by the St. Paul's Players, also participated in Essex Community Pit Band, solo performances for weddings and other church functions as well as solo performances at other churches. He enjoyed sports and collecting sports cards and memorabilia. He was well versed in all sports, was an avid reader with civil war and history being his interests. The Bible was a constant read. His faith was very important, which was reflected in his kindness to all. Bill will be remembered for his kind and compassionate nature, his unwavering generosity. His warmth and genuine interest in others endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy will forever shine bright within the hearts of those who loved and cherished him.
