William "Duke" Roland Ward, a beloved husband, brother, and esteemed professional in the field of electrical engineering, passed away on April 7, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on July 13, 1947, in Havre de Grace, Maryland. A master's degree holder in the field of Electrical Engineering, William dedicated his career to innovation and excellence, working diligently at Schneider Electric.
William, affectionately known as Duke, was not only a skilled engineer but also a man of many talents and interests. He was a HAM radio operator with the call sign K3QWO, and his passion for communication extended beyond his profession. Engaging in volunteer work, Duke served as a national ski patrol member and a volunteer firefighter for the Aberdeen Fire Company, Edgemont Fire Company and the University of Maryland. Additionally, he was a private pilot, soaring through the skies with a sense of freedom and adventure.
Survived by his loving wife Anne Ward, sister the late Madonna Ward Moore, cherished niece Karen Steelman, nephew William Steelman, and niece Jacqueline Furst, William leaves behind a legacy of dedication, passion, and kindness.
