Obituary for Joseph Kitts


Mr. Joseph C. Kitts, CDR USN RET., of Ocean City, MD, passed away on January 13, 2015. He was 70.
He was born in Rutledge, TN, to Ulys and Hazel Whitt Kitts. He was devoted husband of the late Margaret “Peggy” Kitts, loving father of Joseph Kitts and his wife Julie, of Havre de Grace, MD, Thomas Kitts and his wife Stacy of Arnold, MD, and David Kitts and his wife Kimberly of Denton, MD. He was the adored grandfather of Hayley, Jenna, Colby, and Taryn Kitts of Havre de Grace, MD, Kayla, Alexandra, Logan, and Isabelle Kitts of Denton, MD. Mr. Kitts was the dear brother of Don Kitts and his wife Beverly, and Michael Kitts and wife Martina of Knoxville, TN, Mary Stout and her husband Ken, of Strawberry Plains, TN, and Lillian Edwards and her husband Jim of Rogersville, TN, and the late Wayne Kitts, Pauline Cornwell Kitts, Shirley Houser and Helen DeVault. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kitts served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1991, retiring as a Naval Commander. He then worked for CSC as a Naval Marine Engineer Leader.
Mr. Kitts will be buried with honors at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
