Obituary for Florence Helena Springer
Florence Helena Springer, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on August 14, 2015. She was 93.
Mrs. Springer was born in Havre de Grace, MD, to John L. Hayes and Helen A. Groak. She was the loving mother of Sharon Mills of Havre de Grace, MD, and the late Shirley Springer, Howard Springer and Jeanne Springer. Mrs. Springer was the adored grandmother of Candice Lyons and husband Matthew, Regina Overbay, Christopher Mills, Travis Mills and wife Kly, and great-grandmother of Tristan Steever, Jacob Lyons, Madison Overbay, Gaby Mills, and Aiva Mills. She was the dear sister of the late John "Jack" L. Hayes.
Mrs. Springer retired from Comcast as a customer service representative. She was a member of the Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, and was the first President of the Susquehanna Hose Company Ladies' Auxiliary. She loved reading, especially her Bible and was devoted to her faith. Mrs. Springer also enjoyed her crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Her main love was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog "Sophie" and grand-dog "Riley".
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 5-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Norman Obenshain will officiate. Interment will be held at Angel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Mills, Travis Mills, Matthew Lyons, Larry Overbay, Gary Hayes, and John Hayes.
Contributions may be made in her memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 10626 York Road, Suite A, Cockeysville, MD 21030.
