Obituary for LaRue Garner Anderson

La Rue Garner Anderson, an Aberdeen, MD, resident for over 50 years, died January 11, 2016, at Oak Crest Village, Parkville, MD, where she resided for the past 18 years.
Her family meant everything to her and she is survived by her children Terri Ward and her husband, Lewis, of Havre de Grace, Jonell Hook and her husband, Bruce of Sherwood Forest and Holly Thompson and her husband, Timothy of Glen Arm. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Lanell Patrick (Rob), Eric Ward (Stacy), Kristine Faha (Drew), Kevin Hook (Sarah), Maribeth Hook, William Thompson (Jana), Kathryn Thompson and four great-grandchildren, Trey Patrick, and Brynn, Karson and Addison Ward. She was predeceased by her siblings.
She was born in Newport, North Carolina, in 1920 and attended Norfolk Business College. After graduation, she accepted a position at Aberdeen Proving Ground, where she met and married the love of her life, Harry “Hunk” Anderson, who died in 2009.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Aberdeen, where she was active with the Fidelis Class. During her years at Oak Crest, she was on the Board of Directors for the Treasure Chest, a member of the Red Hat Ladies, and an avid bridge player. She was a beautiful person inside and out and lived her life with kindness and consideration.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 9:30 to 10:00
A.M. at the Oak Crest Chapel, 8820 Walther Blvd., Parkville, MD 21234. Services will follow at the Oak Crest Chapel at 10:00 A.M.
Dr. Robert Clipp will officiate.
Interment will be in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen.
