Obituary for Zilphia Delray Hughes (Ham)

Zilphia Delray Hughes, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on February 1, 2017. She was 88.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Ashe County, NC, to Alonzo Fred Ham and Bertha Jones Roten Ham. She was the devoted wife of the late Sgt. Rodney Dale Hughes, loving mother of Anita Coakley, Dougie Hughes and his companion Lisa Tibbs, Karen Turk, and the late Larry Dale Hughes and Celia Jeanette Racine. She was the adored grandmother of Larry Dale Hughes, Jr., Rebecca Hughes Allen, Rodney Hughes, Jessica Catron, Clifford R. Brown, Celia Giesemer, Douglas Hughes, Molly Hughes, Amanda Cox, Taylor Racine, Lance Racine, and Cpl. James Lee Turk, III. She had several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hughes was the dear sister of Opal Strauss, Bernice Newby, Lois June Isenock, Delmer Hamm, Rodney “Fred” Hamm, and the late Virginia Crothers.
Mrs. Hughes enjoyed cooking and quilting. Her greatest love was taking care of her family.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home. Chaplain Rodger Stenger will officiate. Interment will be held at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
