Basil Duke Stanley

Basil Duke Stanley 77 years old, died peacefully at home on January 18, 2011. He was the son of the late Oscar Lee Stanley and Maude Anne (Hughes) Stanley. He was born in West Jefferson, North Carolina and moved to Havre De Grace, MD at the young age of 5 years old. He was predeceased by three sisters. Violet Christly, Stella Moore, Gladys Samuelson. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Helen Ray (Graybeal) Stanley, 2 sonsMichael Allen and Steven Gray Stanley and companions of Havre De Grace, MD; 2 Foster children Sherry McGonigal and Bobby Kohlbus of North Carolina. 2 sisters Elma Hollars of Havre De Grace, MD and Mary Houser of Chillicothe, Ohio and nieces and nephews; 10 GrandchildrenAmy Ewing of Rising Sun, Amber Stanley and Tommy Stanley of Havre De Grace, Amy and Jeremy Cooper, Tami and Frank Johnson, Tanya Kohl bus, Crystal Rozek, James Walsh, Ashley Diehl . 13 Great- Grand children Will Ewing ,Tyler Woods, Tristan and Jamie Cooper, Faith, Karleigh and Madison Johnson, Hannah and Kylee Walsh, Madilynn and Mason Diehl, James Boatman, Bryan Morrison. He served 4 years in US Air Force as Sergeant. He as a welder by trade but his first love was farming, which he continued until his death, which won't be the same without him. If you wanted to hear a story thoroughly , he always had one to tell. He loved to relate back to the times of the past in detail, always able to relate to the date, time and weather decidedly. He was well known and loved by many. He will be missed by many friends and family.
