Obituary for Benjamin Danner

Benjamin S. Danner
Benjamin S. Danner, formerly of Manheim, Pennsylvania, and Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, with his family close by in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was 90 years old.

He was born in Manheim, PA, to the late Harry A. Danner and Carrie Netzley Danner.

Mr. Danner served in the U.S. Army for twenty years, during both WWII and the Korean War. He was promoted to Command Sergeant Major while serving in Germany. After retiring from the Army, he worked for the Housing Department at Aberdeen Proving Ground until his retirement.

Mr. Danner was married to Irene Mentzer Danner who passed away in 2004. Ben and Irene traveled throughout the United States, visiting every state except for Hawaii. They spent their winters at LandYachtHarbour in Melbourne, FL. In 2005, Ben married Virginia Sayre and resided in Myrtle Beach, SC. Virginia's son, Jerry Sayre lived close by and was dedicated to helping Ben and Virginia.

Mr. Danner belonged to several organizations, including Masonic Lodge 587, Manheim, PA, Life member of the NCO Association, US Army, Havre de GraceUnitedMethodistChurch, Harford County Shrine Club, Life Member of the Wally Bynum Travel Club, Charter Member of the Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge, and was a member of the Moose Lodge #1406, Melbourne, FL.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM. Pastor Norman Obenshain will officiate.
Interment will be held at AngelHillCemetery.
