Bernard Kirk Garrettson



Bernard Kirk Garrettson, of Darlington, MD, passed away on October 28, 2012. He was 85.

He was born in Darlington, MD, to the late William Howard Garrettson and Marion Jourdan Garrettson. He was the devoted husband of 63 years of Louise Grace Garrettson. He was the loving father of Bernard Kirk Garrettson, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Pinehurst, NC, Gerald Vaughn Garrettson and his wife Diana of Callao, VA, Kimberly Ann Garrettson of Darlington, MD, the late William Howard Garrettson and the late Donna Louise Duda. He was the adored grandfather of Herb, Carissa, Gerry Jr., Kristen, Adrienne, Shane, Alex, Payne, Heather and Tyler, and great- grandfather of 9. He was the brother of Wynona Weaver of Florida, and was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Garrettson was a lifelong horseman and farm manager. He was the manager of Woodside Stud in Oakhurst, NJ, and Rokeby Farms in Upperville, VA. He loved to fish, hunt and crab, but most of all, he enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at Darlington United Methodist Church, 2118 Shuresville Road, Darlington, MD 21034.
Interment will be held at Darlington Cemetery. Pastor Gary Sieglein will officiate.
