Obituary for Betty Jane Wright
Betty Jane (Stamper) Wright
Betty Jane (Stamper) Wright of Perryville died on April13, 2011, at the age of 79. She was the former wife of the late Verlon C. Wright of Havre de Grace and mother of the late Diana M. Bailey and David V. Wright, both of Aberdeen.
She owned and operated Level Building Supplies in Level until 1976. For the next 8 years, she worked as a Senior Manager of the Diplomat Hotel in Hallendale, Florida. She moved to North Carolina in 1984 where she opened a new country store, apartments and gas station. In 1987, she returned to Maryland where she managed several High’s stores including the Havre de Grace, Churchville, and Rock Spring stores until she retired in 1995.
She enjoyed cooking, watching game shows and her grandchildren. She especially looked forward to springtime and Little League Baseball games. In the last fourteen years, she had never missed a game.
She is survived by her son Michael Wright and wife Naomi of Bel Air; her daughter Danies Brown and her husband Robert, of Perryville; 7 grandchildren, Crystal Dziecichowicz of North East; John Bailey, III, of Havre de Grace; David Wright of North East; Nicole Wright of North East; Sarah Beavers of Bel Air; and Tyler Brown and Cody Brown, both of Perryville, 5 great-grandchildren, a brother, Carson Stamper of San Jose, California, and two sisters, Mary Richardson of Louisville, Kentucky, and Lena Walcott of Redding, California.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 17, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Rock Run Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Wright, David Wright, John Bailey III, David Dziecichowicz, Tony Beavers, and Robert Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler and Cody Brown.
