Elmer Harry “Pop” Ferguson, Jr.


Elmer Harry “Pop” Ferguson, Jr., of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on April 8, 2012. He was 88.
He was born in Havre de Grace, MD to the late Elmer Harry Ferguson, Sr., and Virgie Sampson.
Mr. Ferguson was the devoted husband of Virgie Marlan Ferguson for 27 years. He was the loving father of Mary Pelowski of Roseau, MN, Shirley Marsh of Havre de Grace, MD, the late Charles “Bucky” Brooks, the late Debra Workman and the late Cathy Fleenor. He was the adored grandfather of Dennis Workman, Maria Keen, James Keen, Pam Brooks, Sandra Hartman, Mike Olson, and Samuel Pelowski. He is also survived by several great- grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild. He was the dear brother of Leonard Ferguson, Hazel Norris and Peggy Sanford.
Mr. Ferguson loved working his farm and also worked for the State Highway Administration. He enjoyed gardening, especially sharing his vegetables.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12, at 2:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, 209 North Earlton Road, Havre de Grace, MD. Pastor Donnie Smith will officiate. Interment will be held at Deer Creek Harmony Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers will be Leonard Ferguson, Jr., Steven Ferguson, Daniel Ragan, Norman Marsh, James Keen, II and Dennis Workman, II.
