Obituary for Elwood L. McCullough Jr.

Elwood Levering McCullough, Jr., of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on August, 24, 2016. He was 88.
He was born in Havre de Grace, MD, to Elwood McCullough, Sr., and Myrtle McVey McCullough. He was the devoted husband of the late Patricia Ann McCullough, loving father of Karen Shellenberger and her husband Michael, Mary Lynn Thompson and her husband Andrew, and Gardner McCullough and his wife Pamela. He was the adored grandfather of Lindsay Steckel, M. Levering Shelleberger, Andrew Thompson, Will Thompson, and Gardner McCullough, II, and great-grandfather of Ryan Steckel, Dani Jean Steckel, Levering Michael Shellenberger and Jordyn Hazel Shellenberger. He was predeceased by his siblings Levering McCullough and Doris Grimsey.
Mr. McCullough served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948. He retired as the Post Master in Havre de Grace. He was a member of the Susquehanna Masonic Lodge 130, American Legion Post 47, VFW Post 8126, the Rotary Club in Havre de Grace, as well as the Elks Lodge. He was also a Life Member and Past-President of the Susquehanna Hose Company. Mr. McCullough enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, and hunting.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, from 3-5 PM, at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, 101 S. Union Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 5:00 PM. Pastor Norman Obenshain will officiate.
Contributions may be made in his memory to either the Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, or Humane Society of Harford County, 2208 Connolly Road, Fallston MD 21047.
