Frederick Albert Williams, Jr.


Frederick Albert Williams, Jr. of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2011. He was 85.

He was born in Havre de Grace, MD, to the late Frederick Albert Williams, Sr., and Theresa Roxanne Palmer Williams.

He was the loving husband of Elaine Kirtscher Williams, the devoted father of Frederick “Rick” Albert Williams, III, and his wife Diana “Lynn” Williams of Annapolis, MD, and Patricia “Pat” Williams Perrone of Middletown, DE, adored grandfather of Lauren Michelle Perrone of Cazenovia, NY, Jeffrey Allen Perrone of Middletown, DE. He was the dear brother of Dorothy E. Pickard of Delta, PA, and Sidney E. Williams of Havre de Grace, MD.

Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Signalman 3rd Class. He was a member of the Ancient Order of the Deep crossing the equator onboard the USS O’Toole Neptune Regis DE-527. He spent his career as a machinist at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Due to his expertise and skill, he was called upon numerous times to create pieces for awards and special trophies. He was a Honorary Life Member of the Havre de Grace American Legion, Post Number 47 and a Life Member of the VFW Post 8126, and the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 20, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 21 at 10 AM, at the Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, 101 South Union Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD. Dr. Ray Roberson will officiate. Interment will be held at Angel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Williams, Jeffrey Perrone, Allen Kirtscher, Sid Williams, Randy Williams, and Bill Barker. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Kester and Russ Leavy.
