Obituary for Harold L. Hawkins
Harold L. Hawkins
Harold L. Hawkins of Havre de Grace, MD passed away on December 8, 2008 at HarfordMemorialHospital. He was 75 years old. He was the loving husband to Pearl L. Hawkins for more than 56 years.
Mr. Hawkins was born in Darlington, MD to the Late Charles Woosey Hawkins and Ida Eugenia (Lilly) Hawkins Buerhaus.
He was a devoted father to Charles H. Hawkins and his wife Jan of Havre de Grace, MD, Carol A. Huna and her husband Mark of Churchville, MD and Jimmie L. Hawkins and his wife Cecilia of Havre de Grace, MD. He is survived by his grandchildren: Todd Hawkins and his wife Jennifer, Michele Hawkins, Daniel Hawkins, Donald Hawkins and his wife Colleen and Joshua Huna. Mr. Hawkins is also survived by his three great grandchildren: Gabrielle Hawkins, Trent Hawkins and Ryan Hawkins. He was the loving brother to William, George, and Clarence Hawkins, Daisy West, Sarah Cowan, Vera Elliott and Mary Evelyn Zlock. He was predeceased by his brothers Charles, Robert, and Frank Hawkins.
Mr. Hawkins was employed as an oil burner mechanic for many years at C. Curtis Morgan Company in Aberdeen, MD and also at the Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was also the owner and operator of the Harold L. Hawkins Heating and Air Conditioning Company. In his later years after retirement he immensely enjoyed working in his vegetable and flower garden where he enjoyed sharing its bounty.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
A service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 1 PM at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. in Havre de Grace, MD.
Pallbearers will be Kent Farrell, Charles Hash, Steve Cardinal, Ken Coakley, Jimmy Martin and Michael Palmer. Honorary Pallbearers are Donald Hawkins, Todd Hawkins, Daniel Hawkins and Joshua Huna.
Interment will be at BelAirMemorialGardens.
Officiating will be Pastor Noah Tharp of BelAirChurch of the Nazarene
