Obituary for Herman W. Lieske Jr.

Herman Walter Lieske, Jr.



Herman Walter Lieske, Jr., lifelong resident of Aberdeen, passed away on December 20, 2009. He was 66.

He was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland to the late Herman W. Lieske, Sr. and the late Nola Pearce Lieske.

Mr. Lieske was the husband of the late Lorna Jean Lieske and was the loving fiancé of eight years to Ruby Hoggatt of Aberdeen, MD.

He was the father of Herman W. Lieske, III and his wife Tawnya of Havre de Grace, Carrie Lynne Lieske of Aberdeen, Maryland, Carole Jean Travers and her husband Wesley of Havre de Grace, Angela Marie Zimnoch of Abingdon, Maryland, and Bettie Ann Hinson and her husband Michael of Havre de Grace, MD. He is survived by 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Edward Lieske, Henry Lieske, III, John “Fred” Lieske, II, Jesse Evans, Helen Richick, Charlotte Lieske, the late Thomas Evans, Mary Nelson, and Minnie Wade. He is survived by numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a grandson, Brian A. Travers.

Mr. Lieske was self-employed for 37 years. He owned and operated Lieske Hauling and Contracting. He was a member of the Aberdeen Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing cards and games with his family and friends. He was also an avid hunter.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 26, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, Maryland. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 27, at 2:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Aberdeen, Maryland.

Pallbearers will be Lee C. Travers, III, Kenneth W. Travers, Herman W. Lieske, IV, Jeffrey R. Burnette, II, Dale “DJ” Budnick, Jr., Anthony Lieske, John F. Lieske, III, and Henry E. Lieske, IV. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edward C. Wade, Charles G. Wade, Earl T. Lieske, Bryce Behymer, and Nathaniel Zimnoch.
