James Robert Gamble

James Robert Gamble, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on May 12, 2011. He was 81.
He was the devoted husband of 57 ½ years to Beverly Jean Gamble. He was the loving father of William Robert Gamble and his wife Tammy of Aberdeen, MD, James Vincent Gamble of Havre de Grace, MD, Joanne Lynn Kublik and her husband Remy of Crestview, FL, and Beverly Jane Gamble and her partner Dina Rosenthal of Staten Island, NY, and the adored grandfather of Robert Edward Gamble, Elissa Diane Hunter, Daniel Wyatt Gamble, and Jacob Rosenthal Gamble. He was the brother of Thomas Gamble of Leola, PA, Barbara Racine of Elkton, MD, and the late Daniel Gamble, Helen Harris, and Betty England.
Mr. Gamble served in the U.S. Air Force and took part in the Berlin Air Lift. Following his military service, he worked for C&P Telephone Co., then Verizon Telephone Company until his retirement.
He was a member of the C&P Telephone Pioneers, AF Communicators & Air Traffic Controllers Association, Hopewell United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 47, and Havre de Grace Elks Lodge.
He joined Susquehanna Lodge # 130 AF & AM in Havre de Grace October 27th, 1981, was Worshipful Master of Susquehanna Lodge in 1987, Treasurer of the Susquehanna Holding Company, and was an Honorary Member of the following Lodges in Harford County:
Stephenson Lodge # 135 in Darlington
Mt Ararat Lodge # 44 in Bel Air
Aberdeen Lodge # 187 in Aberdeen
Esdraleon Lodge # 176 Cardiff, MD
He was a member of the Grand Line Officers of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Maryland, was Vice President of the Grand Lodge Board of Grand Inspectors, was a Grand Inspector for the Grand Lodge of Maryland for six years, a member of the Scottish Rite, Past Member of the Board of Trustee’s, Har-Ce Forest 142 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, member of Havre de Grace Chapter 27 Order of the Eastern Star, Havre de Grace, MD.

Along with his extensive service to his community, Mr. Gamble enjoyed scouting, camping, flying and working.

A viewing will be held on Monday, May 16, from 2-4 and 6-9 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 17, at 1:00 PM at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 3600 Level Village Road, Havre de Grace, MD. Pastor Corey Sharp will officiate.
