Jerry L. Sides


Jerry L. Sides of Havre de Grace, MD passed away at University of Maryland on December 3, 2008. He was 69.

Mr. Sides was born in Rockwell, NC to the Eula M. (Beaver) Sides and the Late Claudie H. Sides. He was the devoted husband of 43 years to Barbara J. (Benedict) Sides.

Jerry was the loving father of David L. Sides and his wife Donna of NC, Michael S. Sides and his wife Rebecca of NC, Christina M. Kane and her husband Mark of Havre de Grace, MD, Cynthia L. Carlton and her husband Philip of NC, Debra R. Sides-Pannell, and her husband Michael of Elkton, MD. He was the adoring grandfather to Brittney Kane, Caitlin Kane, Haley Kane, Madison Sides, Kyle Carlton, Garrett Carlton, Renick Sides, Emmalyn Sides, Landis Sides, and his step-grandchildren Jonathon Pannell and Kirsten Pannell.

Mr. Sides had retired from the U.S. Navy after more than 30 years service. He enjoyed bowling and was a League bowler at Harford Lanes. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post #47 in Havre de Grace. He had spent 10 years building up and coaching the Havre de Grace Little League baseball and football. He enjoyed woodworking, watching football and baseball. Jerry loved his retirement and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

A service was held on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 11 AM at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., with full military honors.
