Obituary for John W. Goodnow

John “Chipper” W. Goodnow


John “Chipper” W. Goodnow of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away surrounded by his family on March 9, 2011 at the HarfordMemorialHospital. He was 60.

Mr. Goodnow was born in Havre de Grace, MD to the late Percy E. Goodnow and Ruth R. Culler. He was the devoted husband of Donna Bauer-Goodnow.

He is survived by his children John-Matthew Goodnow and his wife Valerie, Christopher L. Williams and Rebecca Lynn Fleming. He was the loving grandfather to Wesley, Gabrielle and Matthew Goodnow, Gabriel and Allora Fleming and Quinlan Williams. He was predeceased by one brother and two sisters. He is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and his dear Aunt Gay Blevins.

Mr. Goodnow had served more than 20 years for the United States Army and had served during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the U.S. Army he worked for the State of Maryland and retired from the Susquehanna Work Force. He was a member of the Havre de Grace American Legion Post #47 and served as the past Commander. He was also a member of the VFW in Havre de Grace. He loved cooking, fishing and crabbing.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD.
