Mom there are so many stories to tell about you but I think I will start with your cooking. My favorite was the Chicken and Dumplings, oh my goodness I loved them, Connie was not too particularly crazy over them and as a matter a fact refused to eat them, lol, and always got her way, hehe, but I now understand by having my own kids, there is always one or two picky ones in the bunch. Next, every Sunday you would make Gravey and Biscuits, Sundays were the best for the whole family, the smell of the sausage, the biscuits, and how you made your gravey, with flour, evaporated milk, butter, and lets not forget sage, yes mom, I paid attention. Then there were those weekly salmon cakes, I do not eat them to this day after eatting them so much as a kid and teenager, but I think I will be making them in the near future. I also enjoyed your hamburger patties in gravey, ham with beans and cornbread, milk and cornbread, ham with cabbage and cornbread, and your famous macaroni with tomatoes and lots of cheese on top. I remember you were making home made bread one time, it was in the oven, and me as a teenager thought, well I'm going to check it (you were upstairs), I took a fork and stuck it in the bread and it fell, I closed that oven door so fast did away with the evidence and went into the living room, and then you came down the steps singing Loretta Lynn's, "You Ain't Woman Enough", you walked into the kitchen, opened the oven door and said, "D%m*t to H##L, my bread fell!!!!, You never knew it was me, I am so sorry I made that bread fall, never touch another oven baked bread that way again though. Now some other memories, I remember the wonderful family vacations, your sweet smiles, the yelling too, lol, of course we deserved it. Also I used to love the barbaques we had as a family with ALL the children and thier families, we played Batmitten, crochet, baseball, and kickball, there was always a game after we ate. Our alone time was special too, I remember the grasshopper cages you made for me, coloring with me, tickling me, and putting large Junebugs on the end of strings and letting them fly around us. Remember we used to go driving around, a bunch of us in the car (family), and have what you would call "Fun Time", we would stop someone on the street and ask them the most silliest question we could come up with, we were practical jokesters, the peoples responses and reactions were priceless. I remember when dad and you took us to Baltimore City and you fell in a round ditch, Elmer, Connie and I speeded ahead (embarrased somewhat) while you were busy yelling at poor old dad to get you out of that hole, oh my goodness. You have helped me so much mom to become the woman I am today, both you and dad, and for it I am very grateful. I am so fortunate that I had a mom and dad that stuck it out together through the GOOD and the BAD. So I guess I have the most unique qualities of both of you, and to me and others thier pretty darn good. I will always need to work on being better through our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, to Glorify him only. I am so grateful that you both taught me about him as a child, so grateful. My last time with you was Friday 6/24/16, you were in good spirits and happy. I took you in your room and gave you a makeover, you were so beautiful and kept asking me how you looked, well you were absolutely stunning, I wheeled you around and showed you off, we went outside sat and talked. You told me over and over again, I love you so much Kathy as did I tell you the same thing. I wanted to see you before I went away to the "Creation Festival" deep in the mountains of PA. and I did. I am glad we had such a good day mom, I love you so so much and miss you and will until I see you again.
Love, your daughter, Kathy
