Obituary for Lois W. Markland

Lois W. Markland, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2016. She was 85.
Mrs. Markland was born in Baltimore, MD, to William Elmer Wentworth and Anna Micheau Wentworth. She was the wife of the late William Thomas Markland, loving mother of Timothy C. Markland, Sr., and his wife Catherine, of Abingdon, MD; adored grandmother of Timothy C. Markland, Jr., and his wife Amy, of Bel Air, MD, and Megan K. J. Markland of Brooklyn, NY; beloved great-grandmother of Sarah E. Markland, Anna C. Markland, and Isabella G. Markland.
Mrs. Markland previously worked as a caregiver at Deer’s Head Hospice in Salisbury, MD. She enjoyed Tai Chi, Qi Gong, writing poetry and listening to a wide variety of music. Mrs. Markland loved the outdoors, especially taking long walks on The Promenade and throughout historic Havre de Grace. One of the many highlights of her life was fulfilling a lifelong dream of traveling to China and experiencing its culture and beauty.
The Celebration of Mrs. Markland’s Life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of cards or flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Citizens Care Center, 415 Market Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078 where she received loving care during the last five years of her life.
