Obituary for M. Janet Cohen
M. Janet Cohen of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on March 13, 2018. She was 82.
Mrs. Cohen was born in Red House, Virginia, to Claude Duval Johnson and Mattie Elder McCullough. After her father passed at a young age, she was raised in Havre de Grace by her mother and adored step-father Elwood McCullough.
Mrs. Cohen was the devoted wife of the late Merrill Cohen. Mrs. Cohen was the loving mother of Brice and Michelle Halbrook of Poolesville, MD, Stuart and Pamela Cohen of Darlington, MD, Wesley and Kathryn Cohen of Forest Hill, MD, Curtis and Susan Cohen of Havre de Grace, MD, and the late Michael Cohen. She was the adored grandmother of Grace Merchlinski, Zachary Halbrook, Peter Halbrook, Julia Halbrook, Eleanor Cohen, Josephine Cohen, Hannah Cohen, Eliza Cohen, Sam Cohen, Lindsey Cohen and Ethan Cohen, and great-grandmother of 3 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Ann McGinnes.
Mrs. Cohen was a member of Webster Congregational Church of Christ. She enjoyed the beach, gardening and playing cards with family and friends. Her main focus in life was taking care of her family.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018, from 1-2 PM, at Webster Congregational United Church of Christ, 4100 Webster Road, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM. Pastor Jim Sterner will officiate. Contributions may be made in her memory to Webster Congregational United Church of Christ, 4100 Webster Road, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
