Obituary for Mary Rink

Mary Rink

Mary Rink, a long time resident of Havre de Grace died September 14, 2011 having endured Alzheimer’s disease for 5 years before succumbing to her final peace.

Mary was 92. She was born in West Virginia to the Late Frank and Congeta Fumarola. She was one of 7 children. She is preceded in death by her brother, Dominic; and sisters, Nancy, Annie, Dolly and Rose. She is survived by her sister Ruby who resides in Florida.

She is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Rink, daughter-in-law, Joanna Pollace Rink, and 2 grandsons, Robert Jr. and Mark Rink, all residing in Las Vegas, NV; a sister-in-law, Betty Cosgrove, Nieces Dorothy Walker, Beverly Lennex, both of Havre de Grace, also other nieces and nephews in CA & AZ.

Mary left West Virginia during the war and worked in a distillery in Elkton, MD, where she met Thomas Rink and married in 1946.

Mary lost Tom to cancer in June 1981. She moved into The Graw, which was her home for 25 years. She spent her last years as a resident of Citizen’s Care Center where she received exceptional attention. Her caregivers were indeed remarkable, special individuals and although her family anguished over others administering her care, it was evident that only these capable qualified medical servants could accomplish what was required for Mary. We are forever grateful to each and every one of the staff and management team at Citizens.

We are appreciative too, for the wonderful people in Havre de Grace who loved and assisted Mary throughout the years, including her former employer and friend, Evelyn Brendle and Theresa Hansell. Mary was a living part of Havre de Grace a presence that was known by so many of the community. Thank you dear friends of Hare de Grace. She will be sorely missed.

A small intimate private graveside service was held at Angel Hill Cemetery where Mary was laid to permanent and peaceful rest beside her husband, Tom.
