Obituary for Merle O'Brien

Merle O’Brien

Merle O’Brien, of Catonsville, passed away on July 01, 2009. She was 89.
She was born in Baltimore, MD to the late William J. O’Brien and Dorothy Merle O’Brien. Miss O’Brien was a graduate of Western High School. She worked for Maryland National Bank for 35 years. She retired as head of Mail Deposits and Lock Boxes. She was known as “The Old Lady.”
Miss O’Brien’s survivors include a niece, Mrs. Mary Kathleen Marks, of Catonsville, MD and a nephew, Rev. William J. O’Brien, of Havre de Grace. Miss O’Brien was predeceased by her brother, William J. O’Brien, Jr. and her sister-in-law, Mary E. O’Brien. Miss O’Brien enjoyed her work, her family and reading. She enjoyed ironing shirts for her father and later for her nephew. A viewing was held on Friday, July 3, from 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, Maryland. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, July 4, at 10:30 AM, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, Maryland 21078. Interment was held at Parkwood Cemetery on Monday, July 6, 2009. Contributions may be made in her name to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church: Building Fund or The Kitchen Door at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, Maryland 21078.
