Obituary for Mildred T. Becker

Mildred T. Becker

Mildred T. Becker passed away on June 16, 2011 at the CitizensCareCenter in Havre de Grace, MD. She was 79. Mrs. Becker was born in Havre de Grace, MD to the Late John P. and Charlotte E. (Marlowe) Hines.

She was the devoted wife of the late Alvin J. Becker, loving mother to John A. Becker and his wife Teresa of Annandale, Virginia, Mark P. Becker and his wife Laura of Atlanta, Georgia, Michael Becker and his wife Anne of Naperville, Illinois, and the Late Paul Becker. She was the devoted grandmother of Shannon Agniel, Edmund Becker, Julia Becker, and Matthew Becker. She was the loving great-grandmother to Quinn Agniel and Callie Agniel. She is survived by her sisters Charlotte Putland and Gloria Day of Havre de Grace, MD. She was predeceased by her brothers John R. Hines and Philip S. Hines of Havre de Grace, MD.

Mrs. Becker had retired from the Aberdeen Proving Ground as a Program Analyst in April 2005 after 34 years of Federal Service. Early in her career, she worked in Okinawa and lived with her family in Japan and France. She had been a member of the Church of St. Patrick in Havre de Grace, MD, where she volunteered for numerous fund-raising events. Mrs. Becker became famous for the cream puffs that she baked for church bake sales. She was an inveterate shopper in her spare time after retirement, making regular trips to Pennsylvania with her Sisters Charlotte and Gloria as her accomplices.

To Mildred, family always came first, and she was most proud of her sons and their families and her sisters/brothers and their families. Visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren became the highlight of her life. She had a gift for making every family member and friend feel like they were the most important person in the world to her. She loved them all. In addition, she was a “secret Santa” to single mothers who needed a helping hand. Known to family and friends as Mom, Grandmom, Mom Mom, Sis’, Aunt Mildred, or Millie, Mildred Becker will be missed dearly.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 2 to 4 P.M., Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. There will be a private interment.
