Obituary for Nellie Armstrong Lisanti

Nellie Armstrong Lisanti, 90 a life-long resident of Havre de Grace died June 18th at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
Mrs. Lisanti’s career spanned thirty years as the Chief Supply Officer for Kirk Army Hospital at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Mrs. Lisanti was an adventurer, having traveled to over 37 countries and all 50 U.S. States. She was a life member of Saint Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Havre de Grace and a past President of the American Legion Ladies Aux. Joseph L. Davis Post 47. Mrs. Lisanti was politically active. She met four United States Presidents and was well known by many other State and National dignitaries. She enjoyed creating scrap books which were a collection of “interesting” news articles spanning the last 75 years.
She was cheerful, compassionate, and funny, with a dynamic personality and warm heart.
Mrs. Lisanti, was born on February 26, 1924 on Irish Lane in Perryman, Maryland, the youngest child of John Thomas Armstrong and Nellie Marie McDonald Armstrong of Poverty Island, now part of Aberdeen Proving Ground. Mrs. Lisanti is survived by her daughter, Harford County Councilwoman Mary Ann Lisanti of Havre de Grace. Nephews John Thomas (Tom) Armstrong III of Orlando Florida, Marion Vincent Armstrong Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee, Michael Dennis Armstrong of Churchville, Charles Calvin Jones, Jr., Paul Lloyd Armstrong, James (Jim) Patrick Miller, Joseph Armstrong Miller; Niece Jean Marie Armstrong all of Havre de Grace, and many other loving family members.
She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel James Lisanti, her son Samuel James Lisanti, Jr., two brothers John Thomas (Jack) Armstrong Jr, Marion Vincent (Bill) Armstrong and three sisters; Helen Armstrong Jones, Ruth Armstrong Miller, all of Havre de Grace and Catherine Armstrong Adams of Drexel Hill, PA.
Friends are invited to call upon the family at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD on Friday, June 20th between 1:00pm – 9:00pm.
Mass of Resurrection will be held at on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD. Online condolences may be made at www.zellmanfuneralhome.com.
