Obituary for Robert L. Callahan Sr.

Robert L. Callahan, Sr.

Robert L. Callahan, Sr. of Havre de Grace, MD passed away at home on Monday, January 28, 2013. He was 87. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Shirley Hope (Newton) Callahan.

Mr. Callahan was born in Aberdeen, MD to the late Fred S. and Mildred (Long) Callahan. He was the devoted father to Robert L. Callahan, Jr. and his wife Sheran, Erin L. Maphis and her husband Patrick and Allison C. Lempka and her husband Gerald. He was the adoring grandfather to Jordan and Derek Pentz, Andrew and Cassey Lempka, Amber Mitton and Ryann Callahan. He was the great-grandfather to Taylor Van Gorder and Parker Grace Mitton.
Mr. Callahan is survived by his brother Allen M. Callahan and three sisters Mary Sue McCumber, Charlotte Hawkins and Nancy Case. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.

Mr. Callahan retired from American Cyanamid as a Purchasing Supervisor. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and had served during WWII. He was a Life Member of the American Legion Post #47 and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed playing golf. He loved flying planes and held a Private Pilot License and belonged to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 10 to 11 A.M. at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Where a memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A.

Officiating will be Pastor Lisa Watson-Hill from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, MD

Interment will be held at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
