Robert Maxwell Knight, Sr.


Robert Maxwell Knight, Sr., of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on November 25, 2011. He was 78.
He was born in Darlington, MD to the late Samuel Maxwell Knight and Grace Baker Knight.
He was the devoted husband of 55 years to Laura Lee Knight. He was the loving father of Robert M. Knight, Jr., and his wife Pat of Darlington, MD, Steven L. Knight and his wife Linda of Whiteford, MD, Leann K. Hines of Havre de Grace, MD, and Susan G. Tucker and her husband Frank, of Charlestown, MD. He was the adored grandfather of Robert “Max” Knight, III, Candace L. Knight, Courtney G. Knight, Stevie L. Knight, Kimberly M. Hines and her fiancé Allen Dinan, Kristin L. Hines, Grant M. Tucker, Megan G. Tucker, and the late Ashley N. Tucker. He was the dear brother of Mildred “Millie” Riley of Darlington, MD.

Mr. Knight served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He then worked for C&P, Bell Atlantic and Verizon Telephone Companies. He was a member of the Verizon Telephone Pioneers and Darlington United Methodist Church. He could fix anything and loved fishing, camping, and baseball.

A viewing will be held on Monday, November 28, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM, at Darlington United Methodist Church, 2117 Shuresville Road, Darlington, MD 21034-1512. Rev. Gary Sieglein will officiate. Interment will be held at Darlington Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Darlington United Methodist Church.
