Theodore Samuel Ropiski



Theodore Samuel Ropiski, 87, passed away on May 27, 2013 at his home in Bel Air, MD. Ted was born on December 16, 1925 to Samuel and Helen Ropiski in Reading, Pennsylvannia. He was the oldest of three children, and a graduate of the University of Denver.

Ted served in the US Army Cavalry division in World War II where he met his wife of 67 years, Bernice Williford, They were married In Kansas City, KS on August 10, 1946.

After the war, Ted began a career in the insurance industry, working for the Ohio Casualty Group as a claims adjuster. Ted retired with his wife Bernice in Bel Air, MD where they both lived for the past 46 years together. They also enjoyed their retirement in the winter months in Sarasota, FL, as well as traveling the world together places such as Alaska, Israel, Jamaica, and Mexico. Ted was gregarious, always one to strike up a conversation with everyone he met, and it is unlikely that anyone who had met Ted would forget him.

Ted is survived by his wife, Bernice, his two sisters Barbara Sinistri an Muriel Hlatkey, four children Yvonne Cowan of Parksley, VA, Karen Willis of Darlington, MD, Gregory Ropiski of Bel Air, MD, and David Ropiski of Florence, CO; five grandchildren, Sarah Whiteford, Aaron Willis, Christopher Willis, Amber Ropiski, and Brandon Ropiski; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Chuch of Bel Air, 224 North Main Street, Bel Air, MD on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 3:00pm with a reception to be held afterwards.
