Obituary for Thomas Abraham

Thomas Abraham








Thomas Abraham, of Havre de Grace, Maryland, passed away on May 31, 2013. He was 91.
He was born in Homestead Park, Pennsylvania, to Alexander and Anna Haddad Abraham. He was the devoted husband of 66 years to Lora Mae Abraham (nee Ashley). He was the loving father of Alex Abraham and his wife Caroline of Havre de Grace, MD, and the adored grandfather of Tommy Abraham and Audrey Mae Abraham. He was predeceased by his six siblings, Freda, Catherine, Bernard, Michael, Robert and Donald. He was also survived by several nephews and a niece, all from the Pittsburgh area.

Like his brothers, Mr. Abraham served in the military. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army after serving for 4 years, 3 of which were served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. He finished his military service at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Mr. Abraham was involved in several businesses in the area, namely the original Towne House Restaurant. He was President of the Harford County Restaurant Association from 1959-1960. He was a member of the American Legion Post 47 in Havre de Grace. He later became involved, with his wife, and Father Joseph Martin in the development of Father Martin’s Ashley. Mr. Abraham was also a member of St. Joan of Arc Church. He loved fishing and boating, golfing and playing poker.

A viewing will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, June 4, at 11:00 AM, at St. Joan of Arc Chruch 222 South Law Street, Aberdeen, MD. Father David Carey will officiate. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mae Abraham Scholarship Fund, Father Martin’s Ashley, P.O. Box 240, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
