Obituary for Vernon Joseph Wyatt

Vernon Joseph Wyatt




Vernon Joseph Wyatt, of Havre de Grace, passed away surrounded by family, on Friday, May 1, 2009. He was 84.

He was the devoted husband of 53 years to Agnes S. Wyatt. He was the loving father of Thomas and Janet Wyatt of Clermont, Florida, and Kathryn and Raymond Fontaine of Havre de Grace. He was the adored grandfather of Raymond and Elizabeth Fontaine of Havre de Grace.

Mr. Wyatt was a graduate of Havre de Grace High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground, starting as a machinist and retiring after 44 years as Chief of the Technical Support Division at the Army Ballistics Research Laboratory. Along with his work, Mr. Wyatt enjoyed studying mathematics, mechanics and physics. He enjoyed logic puzzles, traveling, opera, and stained glass projects. He was a member of the Harford Choral Society and the Showcrafters Men’s Chorus. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for 75 years and also sang in the St. Patrick’s Choir.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 5, at 10:00 AM, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Father John J. Abrahams will officiate. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens.
