Obituary for Zada L. Kennedy

Zada L. Kennedy


Zada L. Kennedy, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on May 16, 2011. She was 87.

She was born in Orient, Iowa, to the late Harley and Edna Downing Duff. Mrs. Kennedy was the wife to the late George Franklin Kennedy. She was the loving mother of Connie Collins and her husband Frank Collins Jr., of Aberdeen, MD, adored grandmother of Christi Peterson and her husband Mark, and Franklin Collins, III, and his wife Jessica, all of Aberdeen, MD, and great-grandmother of Grant Peterson of Aberdeen, MD. She was the sister of Leroy Duff, Richard Duff, and Joan Petro, all of Iowa, and the late Dwight Irwin, Darrell Duff, and Ulva Clark.

Mrs. Kennedy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She spent her career as a telephone operator for Bell Atlantic and C&P Telephone. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the American Legion Post 47. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and boating. She was very handy and loved playing BINGO.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Ruth Collins will officiate. Interment will be held at Angel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Collins, Jr. Franklin Collins, III, Charles Collins, John Collins, Mark Peterson, and Dennis Bachtel. Harvey Keen will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
