I happened to be in the Art Rooms store one day earlier this year and was sitting talking to Liz and Paul about recipes as I love to bake and cook. Paul started reminising about something he had as a kid that he would get in Philadelphia called Buttercake. He kept saying "I wish I could find a place that made that recipe the way I remember it." Well, Paul and Liz and I got on Google and typed in "Philadelphia Buttercake." We looked at the different pictures and Paul decided that the one picture looked like the "cake" he knew as "Buttercake." He actually found a bakery listed in Philadelphia, not far from where he grew up, that made such a thing. Paul decided to call the bakery and ask them about the recipe, how they made the cake etc. Based on what they told him, Paul decided to order a few and told the person at the bakery that he would be there the next day to retrieve them. I believe Liz Lawson went with him the next morning to Philly and he was so happy that he had found his beloved "Buttercake."
I have not tasted this "Buttercake" yet but I am sure I will get there and bring some back for Liz (his wife) as she loves it too. From then on I knick-named him "Buttercake." " Hey Buttercake...how you doin?" and then I would get the "Hey Crovo...how you doin?" I miss you Paul and will always remember your humor and kindness. Here's to ya "Buttecake." :)
