Richard  D.  Kirkendall
Richard D. “Dick” Kirkendall of Havre de Grace, MD passed away on March 2, 2015 at the Citizens Care Center. He was 84 and the devoted husband of 62 years to Jane P. (Kirk) Kirkendall.

Mr. Kirkendall was born in Sioux Falls, SD to the late Guy E. and Dorothy (Moss) Kirkendall.

He was the loving father of Gary D. Kirkendall and his fiancée Vivian L. Perkins, R. Scott Kirkendall and his wife Linda L. Moxley, and Mark E. Kirkendall and his wife Teresa J. Kirkendall. He was the proud grandfather to Christopher D., Olivia “Peyton”, Jordan T., and Jacob C. Kirkendall. He is survived by his brother Lyle G. Kirkendall and was predeceased by his siblings Genevieve M. Gerry and Eugene H. Kirkendall.

Dick was a 1948 graduate of Havre de Grace High School and later the University of Delaware.
He was employed as a Mechanical Engineer to the Department of Defense at Aberdeen Proving Ground where he received numerous patents and awards. Retiring after 41 years, Dick continued his services for eleven additional years through his company Projectile Technology as a contractor in ballistics research.
Dick’s passion for boating was known throughout the community. Weekends were spent aboard his beloved “Sco Gar III”. He was a licensed pilot who enjoyed flying, trapshooting, fishing, travel, and music. Dick and Jane’s shared love for music and entertainment led them to the formation of “Dick and Jane Productions” through which they produced and directed many themed musicals both locally and in Sanford, Florida, where they spent seventeen winters.

Dick was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace, the Young at Heart Senior Club, and a lifetime member of the Elks and Cedars Gun Club.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11 A.M. at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. with burial at Angel Hill Cemetery.

Officiating services will be Rev. Susie Atkinson and the Rev. Dr. Jim Horn
