Barbara Hutchison
In memory of my father-in-law, Robert W. Hutchison, I fondly recall the years when the Hutchison family were neighbors. In adulthood, Robert recommended me to many employers in the private and federal sectors. Long after his retirement from NASA, the Library of Congress, and the State Department, I worked as a defense contractor to the US Air Force, US Navy, and US Marines. I would hear federal civilians and military personnel talk of the days when a “Robert Hutchison” ran the federal agencies like a “well-oiled machine.” One day it gave me great pleasure to announce that the federal government invited Robert back to rectify years of ineptitude by novices. This news brought loud “hoorahs” followed by personal stories of Robert’s good counsel – a director who maintained an “open door” policy of allowing personnel to drop by for guidance and consolation. Robert was a Christian-filled man; God is the creator of moral leaders and Robert was one of them. Americans have lost a dearly valuable patriot to the Republic, especially in these troubled times. Ecclesiastes 3:1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. I pray for God’s grace upon Christian, Rebecca, and all the children and grandchildren for comfort during mourning and in grief; and I ask that you accept the depth of encouragement extended by your family and friends through those days and beyond. May God abundantly bless you, Barbara Hutchison
