"My Guts are Boiling"

Edith was a wonderful lady just like her Mom (whom I used to walk home from my Grandmother's to carry her packages.) Edith worked at Howard Johnson's with my Aunt Tillie, Betty Vincenti, My Step Mother, and other local colorful people. I was hired when I was 16 to work as a junior hostess. I remember Edith coming out of the kitchen in an angry stance and saying over and over "my guts are boilen". Aunt Tillie said - "Edith, you better watch it or they are gonna put them on the menue." Edith abruptly stopped - her big brown eyes staring at A.Til and then suddenly she bent over laughing so hard. I will never forget the look on her face - the very shock of A.Tillie's words leaving Edith speechless, which was pretty darn hard to do! Love you Edith and thank you for being in my childhood and early adult hood. Your courageous actions, like all the single women in my community, taught me early on how to take care of myself and be a winner - not a victim. Rest in Peach you feisty lady you. I will always think of you fondly. paula languis brinkman
